Additional Classroom Projects

Students created posters to demonstrate proficiency in writing and graphing functions. The students created a word problem, wrote a function for that word problem, developed an input output table, and graphed their function. The students then did a gallery walk where they answered their peers' questions on the posters. This is an example of a poster that met all required elements and met expectations for proficiency.

During MEA week, each teacher was assigned a small group of students to test and do activities with. One of our ongoing projects was a door decorating contest. Students had to design a door with information on a specific endangered species in Maine. In these photos, you can see the creation of our door, along with the final product.

Sphero SPRKs are bluetooth enabled, robotic devices. Students used iPads and the Lightning Lab app to move the devices around and complete a number of mathematics based activities. The devices use block-based coding and are a great introduction to basic programming, making this a fun and effective learning tool.
